Mid-Year Reflections
When reflecting on the second quarter of 2025, I am reminded of an ancient proverb I’ve heard many times over my career; "The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second-best time is now." The sentiment behind the proverb is timeless and widely echoed across cultures — it's about the value of foresight and taking action regardless of time. It encourages long-term thinking and reminds us that while we can't go back in time, it's never too late to invest in something worthwhile. And that’s precisely what we are doing at Proterra, building the technology that will shape heavy-duty transportation tomorrow, today.
Proterra traces its roots to a point nearly 20-years ago, and is built on a foundation of innovation, sustainability and service to our customers, community and mission. This bedrock drives our passion for driving, innovating, and pursuing solutions for a better, more sustainable world.

Serve Our Customers
We are not alone in this effort. We are fortunate to serve customers who are pioneering innovative commercial vehicle and equipment solutions in the areas of public transportation, emergency response, construction and mining. The commercial vehicle industry, as is the case with many industries today, faces changes that present new challenges to overcome. Despite industry headwinds, one thing remains clear—the future will be electric, and autonomous.
This was exceptionally evident at both CES and the Advanced Clean Technology (ACT) Expo this year. Our three-day presence at the ACT Expo event in Anaheim created incredible opportunities to connect with industry leaders and customers who share our vision for sustainable commercial transportation. The event revealed something powerful: despite industry headwinds, there's unified momentum amongst industry leaders toward electrification. Collectively, industry partners are working together to ensure OEMs and fleet operators have the tools needed to innovate and build the future of transportation.
At ACT, we proudly announced an innovative addition to our Onyx Stata series, the H2-23 battery pack, specifically optimized for heavy-duty truck applications. This product represents our unwavering commitment to zero-emission technology. Proterra’s technology was showcased across nine different locations and vehicles, demonstrating the trust our partners place in our solutions and the expertise of our incredible team.
A standout moment came when Mack Trucks unveiled the new Mack Pioneer and announced its upcoming electric variant, to be powered by Proterra. Seeing our advanced battery systems prominently featured was validation that our customers trust in our technology's ability to deliver on their sustainability goals.

Serve Our Community
Our commitment to sustainability goes well beyond the vehicle and extends to our people and community. While we build batteries, we have our own “battery” and it's charged by the strength of our people. And as it turns out, Proterra has a lot of athletes! In recent weeks, team members from Greer participated in three separate races – two in the upstate South Carolina area and one in Silicon Valley. These wellness activities strengthen our team culture, personal health, and foster broader community engagement.
Our commitment to making tomorrow better than today extends to the communities where we live and work. This quarter, our team participated in United Way of Greenville County's Hands On Greenville Day, partnering with Greer Relief for neighborhood cleanup. When some of our team members noticed their food pantry running low on essentials, they came together to donate supplies, demonstrating our belief that building a sustainable world also means strengthening local communities.

Serve Our Mission
Challenging times demand an even sharper focus on mission. This quarter, we strengthened our relationships with South Carolina's congressional delegation, hosting visits from representatives of Congressman William Timmons, Senator Tim Scott, and Senator Lindsey Graham. These meetings provided valuable opportunities to share our industry perspective and discuss the policy landscape affecting commercial electrification.
We also hosted a webinar, "Empowering Policy in Today's Political Landscape," where our policy team joined industry experts from Battery Materials and Technology Coalition to discuss evolving regulatory frameworks, trade policies, and emerging opportunities for U.S. battery manufacturing, fleet operators, and OEMs alike. These efforts reinforce our commitment to being a trusted voice in shaping policies that support American manufacturing and clean energy innovation. Didn’t get a chance to watch the webinar? As we closed out Q2, our new website was launched as part of a broader effort to better reflect who we are today and where we're headed. We've also introduced the Proterra Onyx Series, streamlining our product lineup:
- Onyx Strata: Compact, multi-layer configurations designed for space efficiency, offering seamless installation and integration for new builds and upfitted vehicles.
- Onyx Slate: Traditional flat battery configuration designed for longer, larger commercial vehicles, offering flexible installation options below the frame rails, within them, or on the vehicle roof.
This is a major step in our ongoing evolution. Check out proterra.com to see what we've been working on.

Our commitment to service, dedication to our customers, and belief in a sustainable future drives everything we do. Even in challenging times, we're not just participating in the electric revolution—we're leading it with purpose. We are looking forward to how the future of 2025 will unfold.
The journey continues and tomorrow will be better than today.
